Timing and spacing: the secret of weight and speed
Why the number of frames and the gaps between them decide everything.

Timing is how many frames you spend on a move. Fewer frames, faster motion; more frames, slower. This simple choice builds an object’s weight: an elephant moves slowly because it is heavy.
Spacing is how far the object moves in each frame. Close gaps, slow soft motion; wide gaps, fast motion. By changing the spacing gradually you build acceleration and braking.
